Mound Wood is between Faversham and Canterbury in Kent. It is part of Goulds Wood, which you can find in search on Google Maps or OpenStreetMap. On Apple Maps or Bing Maps, search for Rhode Common.
Goulds Wood is just below the centre of the map shown above. You should be able to zoom in and out.
The main entrance is on a road called Rhode Common. The What3Words address of the gate to the wood is ///translate.watching.incorrect. Click this link to see this location on a map, where you can click to get navigation instructions from Google Maps, Bing Maps or Waze.
The nearest station is Selling, which is on the line from London Victoria to Dover, just before Canterbury East. Walking from Selling Station takes 20 minutes.
From Platform 2 follow the path by the footbridge down the embankment to the field, then turn right and follow the narrow footpath that runs parallel to the railway.
At the end of the path, turn left on to Fox Lane, and walk 50 m until you reach the footpath on the right. Take the path, which begins like a track, leaving the hedge to your left.
Keep going to and through an industrial-scale orchard. The field rises slightly and the path goes alongside a hedge until you reach Rhode Common.
Turn left and walk 450m along Rhode Common until you see the gate on your right.
The second nearest station is Chilham, which is on the line from Ashford to Canterbury West. Cycling from Chilham Station takes 20-25 minutes. (50-60 minutes walking, on roads with no pavement or verge - not recommended.)
The wood is about 10 minutes by car from Junction 7 of the M2 (this is the eastern end of the motorway, where it joins the A2).
From the junction roundabout, take the Brenley Lane exit (after A2 to Dover, before M2 to London). There's a small sign to Brenley and Selling, but it's easy to miss.
Then take South Street until it arrives at a small hamlet with a crossroads, called Oversland. Beware that you pass through a series of small hamlets on the way: just keep alert and look for a red triangular 'crossroads' sign in the hedgerow on the left as you approach Oversland. Here you take the second right turn (effectively straight on, as the road forks left).
You should now be on Scoggers Hill: continue to its end.
Turn right on to Rhode Common and the gate to the wood is 300m along the road on your left.
There is also a route from the A2, but it is more complicated.
